If you have been on Twitter in the past week, you know that Rihanna dropped her first single, "Work" from her 8th studio album, ANTI. This same day Rihanna's album "ANTI" was leaked, so she proceeded to release her album and allow her fans to listen on TIDAL. The next day she released ANTI on iTunes with a deluxe version including 3 additional songs. ANTI then went platinum in less than 48 hours making it the fastest album in history to be certified platinum. Pretty impressive right?
Now lets get into Beyonce' and her new video "Formation". Twitter has been filled with tweets, memes, and gifs of people showing their love and appreciation of this new video, so you all know the video has been trending on twitter since its release. The video is amazing to say the least, and very very very BLACK. From the young boy dancing in front of a line of white policemen to Beyonce' sinking a police car, you can say this is Bey's way of saying "I do not say much, but I am listening and I am with you all" and we appreciate you Bey.
Now what's the issue you may ask? It is the ongoing back and forth of who is better between Bey and Rih... the answer is... neither. Both artists are talented and successful in their own ways and yes I am fed up with the comparisons. I have even compared them myself, but the argument is old and tired at this point. We have Bey releasing an amazing video and while most of us praised and appreciated the video, others proceeded to slander Rihanna in the process. Why? I do not know. This imaginary Rihanna vs Beyonce' beef that we have been imagining in our heads needs to end.
